Dear Mother

I chose a picture of a letter that was meant for someone’s mother. My mother and I are very close; she is my best friend. Being at college is the first time that I have been away from my mother fur such an extensive amount of time. My mother is my rock. She is always there for me when I need someone to talk to, she lends me a shoulder to cry on, and she is always around to gossip with me. In the artifact that I chose, it looks like it was written from a younger kid, because the handwriting is not the best. The child knows how important their mother is to them, but they also know that dealing with their mother is challenging.

The fist line on the picture is “Dear Mother”, so we know that this child is writing to their mother. The next eight lines start with ‘Mother-’ and then it has two more words. The words are all the emotions we feel for our parents; from love all the way to despise. In the first stanza, it talks about their love for their mother, but then how we despise our parents for grounding us, or yelling at us. The second stanza talks about their mother and them as one. “Mother- I live, Mother- we die”. I can relate to what they are saying because I do not know what I would do if I did not have my mother here. I know we all one day die, but that day with be the very worst day of my entire life.
