I have selected a love letter from lostmagazine.com November 2014 for my journal. I read the letter and I decided to write about it because I was in a situation similar prior to my departure to FSU. I went a different way about it I think it is interesting to study this writing for the other side of what could have been. In this letter the rhetor Kyle's audience is his significant other Sarah. The subject matter of his letter is that Sarah is leaving probably for college and that he loves her and will be waiting for her when she returns. The exigence addressed with in the letter is that he will “be true” while she is away and he will always love her.
The rhetors first discourse was most likely formed in a house hold with strong religious beliefs he includes an excerpt from the bible in the post script. The bible verse is telling her call to God in times of need be strong for. Additionally his tone is very somber because he will no longer be seeing Sarah regularly and he has already said everything he can essentially. Finally although the rhetor does not actual use the word “love” he uses “luv” I am sure he does actually care for Sarah. The artifacts medium paper speaks bounds for him, it is not a cheap text it is a sit down pen and paper artifact of their “luv” that she can look to when she needs. It is a beautiful thing all and all.
