I chose this artifact from found magazine
because I think it shows us why we write. This letter was written by a boy who is expressing how much he looks up to his father, and how his father raised him up in the best possible way. The letter was handwritten which I think makes it more personal, and adds sentimental value. When you handwrite a letter you can almost hear that person's voice coming out of the paper. Also handwritten letters take more time to put together so it should mean that much more to you because that person took more time out of their daily routine to write you a letter. Anyone can write which makes writing so beautiful because everyone expresses their thoughts in a different way. This person gets their point across even without being grammatically correct all the time. There are spelling errors and punctuation errors all throughout, but you are still able to understand the point he is trying to get across. This writing style is very simple in from, but that's what makes it good because he is writing about his true thoughts, and he is able to get straight to the point without having to do a big introduction. The audience is his father so he puts in personal anecdotes to further his point of how good of a father his dad is. Putting personal experiences in your writing is a very good way to illustrate how you feel about something or someone. Overall this letter is very simple in form and style, but writing should be simple, and people should write how they feel more often.
