#LikeAGirl

The hash tag that I chose from the website was #LikeAGirl.  I was not sure what this hash tag would be about, and it seemed like there may be an underlining meaning.  I read the short segment underneath of the hash tag, and it was inspiring. It showed me how there are a lot of people out in the world that have a lot to say. This little segment had a lot of power and momentum to try to encourage others to think the same way. The phrase “like a girl” has been used a lot.  During the super bowl an advertisement played that showed that this phrase should not be used in a sexist way. I think this segment may show us that writing can be so powerful.  The will to get a topic across, not only through word of mouth, but also through writing is incredible.  Hash tags can start movements just from a few words.  Hash tags are points of writing that branch out to bigger pieces of writing.  It provides a topic for multiple people to write what they want to say. This hash tag gave women a voice to stand up to the sexist comments being said to them.  It showed them that one saying, “like a girl”, wasn’t a bad thing.  It gave them the push to go out confidently because they are a girl.  This hash tag showed me that writing could have as much push as talking to someone in person. I think that writing has a personal twist and everyone is emotional about different things, which makes a piece of writing so much more enjoyable.
